photo contest

We have a new photo contest for you all to enter. It is our Fall Landscapes Photo Contest. You can enter your 3 favorite fall photos. It doesn't matter if you have changing fall colors or not. We want to see photos of what fall looks like in your neck of the woods.

Just like with our Close Up photo contest, there will be three winners. Winners will be chosen by the Canvas Press staff from the top 10 photos with the most votes.

Here are the prizes up for grabs.

1st place wins $250 of Canvas Press credit.

2nd place wins $150 of Canvas Press credit.

3rd place wins $75 of Canvas Press credit.

The credit can be used on any product at CanvasPress.com and it will not expire.

The theme "Fall Landscapes" does not necessarily mean your photos need to be landscapes of fall foliage, but rather what Autumn looks like where you live and in your life. Is it going to a pumpkin patch, a local football game, a camping trip, a day at the park..etc. Here are some other ideas:

- City scenes

- Around a campfire

- Enjoying a warm cup of coffee on a cool morning

- Taking a hayride

- Capturing Fall traditions like making caramel apples

- Carving Jack-o-lanterns

Of course photos of leaves changing beautiful colors are also welcome. We are excited to see what you come up with. The best of luck to all who enter.

Tips-n-Tricks #416

Girls with long hair and windy days don't often mix very well for great portraits. If you absolutely must get a photo of them on a windy day try to position them so that the wind is blowing their hair back and slightly to the left or right. This will still give some shape and movement to their hair rather than blowing it straight back, and it won't be in their face.
