"Flames of Life" painting raises money for wildfire victims

by Canvas Press | September 13, 2011

This September, wildfires like we've never seen before in Texas have been devouring homes and businesses right in our backyard. Local artist V....Vaughan was inspired to help out her friends who run Angel Mountain Event Center in Bastrop. They had many of her paintings at the facility and all was lost.

Here is what the artist had to say about the process, from her blog: "When I am sad, I often paint, and this seems to help me process loss and move forward...even if it is just co-miserating with a friend....SO I PAINTED THE POPPIES...and am offering PRINTS for sale, with the proceeds TOTALLY dedicated to helping with this tragedy....by the way, the original poppy painting is for the NEW Angel Mountain!"

Tips-n-Tricks #77

When you are on vacation and taking photos of your family at important landmarks don't fall into the "Where's Waldo" trap by putting them right next to the landmark. They will be very hard to see. Instead bring them much closer to the camera and compose the photo so they are a little off to the side with the landmark over their shoulders.
