Square Canvas Prints Make the Perfect Collage
by Cody Johnson | Dec 14, 2012 | Art & Decor
There are a ton of ways you could make a wall collage of photos or photos on canvas for your walls. It can get a little daunting to try to figure out how 3 horizontal photos and 5 vertical photos will go together on a wall. the easy way to get around that is to go square. By cropping your photos square you can make it easy to do a collage of 3, 4, 6, and 9 (or any grid you want to come up with). You don't even need Photoshop to get this done. You can easily see how an image is going to crop just by uploading your photo to our site and loading it into the crop tool. From my 12 years of photo experience I would say that 80% of photos taken could probably be cropped as square. You will definitely lose part of the photo, but that is ok because you are now drawing the attention of the viewer (probably you and your family) to the absolute best part of the photo. You can also go out and make shooting for a square a new photo project. It will challenge how you compose all of your photographs.
To take this a step further you could create a collage of canvas prints at varying depths. Since we offer a .75", a 1.5" and 2" depth, you can grid your photos so they are uniform but also add some other visual interest by doing them in the different depths.
If this is something you want to try just upload each photo and choose a square size you are comfortable with and crop it exactly how you would like to. Don't forget that you can choose a solid color border to add a little extra shout of color or choose a mirror border if you don't want to lose any important parts of the photo to the sides of the canvas. Give us a call if you have any questions about your project. 888.784.5553
