In the technologically sound society we liv
e in, digital photography has come a long way since its inception. What was once defined as just a new genre of photography has overshadowed the older styles, forcing them into obscurity. The avant-garde DSLR cameras and other similar gadgets occupying endless aisles herald an era of photography that inspires nothing but awe.
In the last few decades, video and film have emerged as the predominant form of story telling but with contemporaries like photography, nothing even comes close. Digital photography, in this regard, has truly revolutionized picture taking. No longer does one need to wait for the film to develop. With the luxury of DSLRs, photographers now have the convenience to simply delete away those that are not up to the mark.
Photo story is the latest wrinkle in photography earning a reputation that will not wane anytime
soon. Photo stories are bringing pictures to life and are turning out to be an unconventional approach to preserving memories. Have you ever considered creating an impressive photo story? If you haven’t, you have no idea what you are missing. Read on to find out what you need to do to rediscover photography like never before.
Story-telling through photographs is something that needs to be harnessed more than ever before. What has really stirred an interest for photo stories is the fact that all you need is any camera…anything from a DSLR to your camera phone. That along with a skillful eye and you are all set to go.
Photo projects can be thought of as a painting, a painting where the photographer uses his skill to capture emotions and communicate concepts. The challenge is to create something extraordinary out of the ordinary things scattered about us. After all, photography is all about brining out the beauty in the most usual things.
Everyone is naturally drawn to stories. What further sweetens the deal is that photo stories are DIY projects and it is one’s own flair for photography that can lead to dramatic results. Creating a photo story does not imply that you buy all that expensive equipment that costs a fortune. Any DSLR you have will work perfectly fine.
What one needs to remember for an impressive photo story is that it is not the money but the effort you put into it that matters. A good photo project is supposed to be an eccentric blend of photography styles. While scene setting photos will be instant attention-grabbers, the candid one capturing actions will actually strike a chord with the viewers.
In order to create a lasting effect on those looking at your photo project, a variety of factors come into play. The importance of selecting a topic, the angles, heart touching emotions and the core values cannot be understated as they all combine to make a photo story aesthetically appealing.
A great start is to create
DIY photo projects of places you visit on regular basis. For instance, you can create a photo story out of the photographs you have taken at a park or you can have unique shots from the grocery store. At the end of the day, putting them together, you will be creating sheer magic out of stuff that once seemed too ordinary to others.
On a final note, remember that story telling through photography takes practice but you do not have to be an incredible photographer to do it brilliantly. All it takes is a bit of technique, a pinch of creativity and a lot of heart. Keep snapping photos. You never know one day you might capture one that justifies publishing on canvas print. As you begin weaving images together into stories, your photographs will never be the same.
