It´s easy and secure! From our homepage, click "Order Canvas" or "Start Now." If you have any problems or concerns with ordering online feel free to contact us by phone.

What if I have a physical print and not a digital photo?

Since this is a digital process we need to scan a copy of the image. You are welcome to mail it to us for scanning, or you can take it to a local photo lab or copy store and ask for a high-resolution scan.

If you are sending the original to us for scanning we can accept prints up to 9x12 in size, 35mm negatives & slides and 120mm negatives. If sending a negative, we recommend you include a reference print for us to match color and overall appearance. Be sure to properly secure these items in a photo mailer to prevent damage in shipping. We also recommend you ship it using a service that provides a tracking number.

Include a note with all of your contact information (name, address, phone, email) and a brief idea of what size and type of canvas you would like to do. We will scan and upload the image to an account for you online to complete the order. Please visit out Contact page for our mailing address.

How do I know if my photo is good enough to print?

You are also welcome to send the file to us for review before ordering. Email it to us at support@canvaspress.com. Tell us what your ideal size and canvas type is and we will make recommendations that best fit the image. When emailing, do not use a software program or the option in email to “attach a photo” because it will be resized to a low resolution and we will not be able to properly evaluate it. Attach the original image as a regular file. If you have multiple images please send them in separate emails if they are over 2MB in size each.
Also available is our canvas design tool to preview cropping, which has a Print Quality Indicator to let you know if your file will make a good quality print at the size you have selected. After uploading your image, proceed to Step 2 and select your desired size. The Print Quality Indicator is a scale from red to green at the bottom of the window. Be sure that your image is displayed to the right of the line marked “Quality Guaranteed.” If your image appears to be below that you may want to upload a larger file or select a smaller size.

I have my own scanner, what settings should I use?

Depending on how large the print is and how large you want to go you should scan from 800 to 2400 dpi. Be sure to crop to just the image area so that the scanner surface is not included. Some scanners include software to remove dust and scratches automatically, if you still see a lot of imperfections and spots on the digital file you can add Minor Retouching to the order and we will remove that.

What file formats do you accept?

Canvas Press Pro can accept .JPG, .PNG and .PSD files up to 100MB in size online. If your file is a .PSD over this size limit or a .TIF you can flatten the image, convert to RGB in 8-bit mode and save as a .JPG at the maximum quality level. We print at 240 dpi so if your image is at size and above 240 dpi you can decrease the resolution to this level, as it must be decreased anyway for printing. Since there will not be many more adjustments to the file you will not see a change in quality. If you must send a .TIF or other format file not accepted online or a file larger than 100MB please burn it to a disc and mail it to us.

What printing technology and canvas do you use?

Our prints are giclee prints made from archival inks. The canvas is a cotton-based material, 21 mil thick. The finished product has a semi-gloss surface.

Will my finished canvas look like the image on my computer screen?

Every computer screen displays images differently. Unless you have a profiled monitor, it may not display accurate colors. We always visually check that images look their best and do minor color-management at no charge to ensure a good print. If your image needs dramatic color adjustments please select our Color Correction enhancement. You may contact us for our ICC color profile if you do have a calibrated system.

The preview of my image on your website has different colors than normal, will it print like this?

The website does not read any profiles from Photoshop, so it may appear dull or slightly off in color if you have done additional editing to the image, but we will see those adjustments when opening them for printing. The site may also not properly display images in CMYK or PSDs in 16-bit mode, but these will print in the proper color.

What stretching options are available?

We have four types of finishing for canvas prints. We have Gallery Wrap options stapled around a wooden stretcher frame and the sides will either be a continuation of your image, a mirror of your image or a solid color depending on your selections. These are available in ¾” 1.5” 2” and 3” depths. The ¾” option is also called that “Standard Stretch” canvas and can be used to fit into a decorative frame. Non-stretched canvases or the “canvas only” option are just the image printed on canvas with a 2” border on each side of plain white canvas. This is the option you want if you will be doing your own stretching or using the canvas in another more non-traditional way.

If I order a Gallery Wrap, is the size I order the print or the finished product?

The Gallery Wrap and Standard Stretch canvases, the size you order is the size of the finished product you receive. For Gallery Wraps we print the image larger in order to accommodate the wrap. For Non-Stretch canvases, the size you order is the actual image area. We include an additional 2” of white canvas on all sides in case you intend to stretch the canvas yourself.

Do you have frame options?

Not at this time. Please visit your local craft store or frame shop for options.

What type of enhancements do you offer?

The enhancements available to add to your order online are Black & White or Sepia Conversion, Retouching and OilWorks. We offer additional services such Photo Collages and Multi-Canvas Collages available offline since these jobs require custom quotes. If you are interested in one of these options please contact us for more details.

You can have us print your image in Black & White or an antique Sepia tone and we will make sure your image converts to that color with the proper contrast and exposure. If you have already done the conversion yourself and are happy with it as is, leave the order as “Full Color” and we will print the image as it is received.

Basic retouching covers color correction, red eye-removal and minor touch-ups to the image. Advanced retouching would include more in depth correction or restoration needed and may require additional charges if more work is required. Please specify in the comments box what specific items you would like retouched. If you aren’t sure which option to choose for your image pleasecontact us.

OilWorks is our exclusive service that gives your image the look of a real oil painting. These are digitally painted by an artist using a stylus connected directly to the computer. The True Artist option is where the artist paints the entire image and makes slight adjustments to ensure the image is the best it can be while remaining true to the original image. The Master Artist OilWorks helps you create a brand new masterpiece, based on your original photo. This involves a consultation with our artist that will be working on your image and you will receive proofs of the painting before printing. Master Artist pieces are also painted with a clear embellishing gel on the finished canvas so there is a real 3D texture of brush strokes. The best way to understand our OilWorks products are to actually see them, here are some samples of previous projects.

Are there any restrictions on what type of photos can be printed?

You can print any digital image on canvas with us whether it be a photograph, painting or digital art. There are no restrictions on what subjects can be printed but Canvas Press Pro does reserve the right to refuse orders with questionable content. You must however be the copyright owner of the image or have obtained permission for reproduction from the copyright owner.

What about copyrighted materials?

The law protects copyright holders from having their work reproduced without compensation. This means that you must have permission from the copyright owner to print a copy of their image. The copyright owner is usually the photographer or artist who originally created the image, or it may be an agency which has licensed and/or purchased the rights to resell the image. If the photo you plan to use is from a professional photographer you must have a release that states you have permission to use the image for personal use. Images from the internet are generally copyright protected and are also displayed at too low a resolution for printing. If you need an image that you do not personally have you can purchase a hi-res digital copy from a stock photography site which will allow you to print it.
When placing an order with us, you must agree that you are the copyright owner or have permission to reproduce the image(s) submitted to Canvas Press Pro. If the image submitted contains copyright information not matching the customer details we will contact you for verification and may have to cancel the order if permission cannot be obtained.

How long will the canvas last?

The inks we use are archival quality and through tests have been estimated to last over 75 years before showing any signs of fading or discoloring. All of our canvases are also protected with an additional coating to give them even more longevity and durability. Canvases are only intended for indoor use, but even in display of direct window light should still last for decades to come. There is no extended warranty or guarantee on the product beyond our 30-day return policy.

How do I clean the canvas?

The canvases are quite durable once given our protective coating and should resist most scratches, smudges, fingerprints, etc. You can dust canvases with a soft, dry cloth. If your canvas is damaged and needs deeper cleaning you may try a damp cloth. We have had some results where a canvas could be wiped down with a cleaning solution without hurting the image but we cannot guarantee or recommend this. Should the canvas get nicked and loose ink in a certain area it can be touched up with felt-tip markers or paint.

What is the best way to hang a canvas?

Canvases 24x36 and larger are provided with Beehive Hanger and an instruction sheet for hanging. Smaller canvases have saw-tooth hangers installed on the back of the frame. You may choose to add your own hardware if you have a preference for how to hang your artwork. Have a level handy – the beehives make it easy to readjust an image to be level, but you still need a level to make sure everything is set correctly.
When hanging art, the general rule of thumb is to have the center of the piece at the average persons eye-level. Galleries will often hang the center of the art from 60” – 66”. If your canvas will hang over a piece of furniture just take that into consideration when hanging.
