A quick search of the internet for the phrase “Poster from Photo” will reveal thousands of printers claiming to produce posters from photos. Claims of fastest, cheapest and biggest almost jump off the page. How can one expect to pick a quality printer with so many advertisements all claiming to be the best? A little light shown on the subject is in order.

Cost

Some prices listed for producing a poster from your photo appear ridiculously cheap. This is fine if you are looking for something to staple on the wall, but becomes worrisome when you actually want to make an artistic statement. Even a cheap poster is going to need a frame and good quality frames are expensive even if you happen to catch one on sale. Of course sales don’t usually come along with exactly what you need when you need it. The sheet glass used to protect you investment is not usually free with the frame and can add considerably to the final cost.

Durability

How long a poster will last is determined partly by the environment it is displayed in and partly by the quality of the materials used in its production. A poster from photo that is the cheapest on the internet will not be produced with the best equipment and materials. The cheap poster will start to fade in about five years even if protected from the elements.

A good quality poster should be produced with archival quality inks and be printed on a very durable medium with a life span as long as or longer than the inks. A treatment to protect your poster from ultra violet light should also be part of the package but probably will not be.

Glare

A glossy poster from photo has a diminished artistic impact, when a streak of light is reflecting across the entire image. The problem is compounded by the pane of glass discussed earlier, there are low glare types of glass available, but they do add more to the final cost.

Glare could be the single most important consideration when placing your poster from photo. Without glare the posters placement could be left completely to the aesthetics of the room.

Reproduction values

A cheap poster from photo will most likely be printed with 4 or 6 colors. The number of colors used in reproducing an image has a major impact on the amount of color combinations available and directly impacts the quality of the image. Fewer colors may look good enough, but why settle for inferior color reproduction.

The solution

A process is available which answers all of these concerns. The cost is less than a matted and framed poster from photo. The inks are archival quality and when combined with a 100% cotton canvas can be expected to last for many decades. The canvas is treated to resist ultra violet light and the poster will not require a pane of glass to protect it.

The printing process used to produce the poster from photo produces an image with no glare. The poster may be placed anywhere in a room in order to produce the greatest impact on viewers.

The printers used in the production of the poster use 12 colors in order to achieve exact color matching. Digital imaging allows the photo to be enlarged with no distortion ensuring a beautiful poster from your photo.
