What is a gallery wrap?

A gallery wrap is where the canvas is stretched around the sides of the stretcher bars making up the inner frame. We offer a variety of borders for the sides including having your image wrap, creating a mirrored image to wrap, or a solid color. Three different depths are available, .75” 1.5” and 2”.

Why aren't all options available at all sizes?

The thinnest stretcher bars we offer are not as stable at sizes over 48” as the deeper frames and can flex over time even if framed so we do not offer any larger. Our other sizes are limited as we need room to wrap and stretch the canvas around the sides.

How do I display it?

You can hang the canvas as is, right when it arrives from us. Smaller sizes will have sawtooth hangers installed and larger canvases have a beehive hanger kit included for quick and easy hanging. You may also choose to add a decorative frame to your canvas. Floating frames are popular for thicker wrapped canvases, and the .75” standard stretch canvas fits into a traditional open back frame.

Do you have frames?

For canvas only we have two different frame style in four colors each. The Float Frames hold a 1.5” canvas gallery wrap with a gap between the edge of the canvas and the frame. The traditional frames sit on top of the .75” canvas. Everything is custom fit and assembled with your image on canvas so it is ready to hang when it arrives.

How do I clean and maintain it?

The print is sealed on your canvas and will resist cracking and fingerprints. You can wipe it down with a soft cloth regularly and if needed a lightly damp cloth to remove more serious debris. The canvas can be scratched and scuffed so please be careful when handling it. If it gets bumped and scratched you may try touching it up with felt-tip or art pens.

Canvas Prints

Canvas Press specializes in creating the highest quality canvas prints; otherwise, know as Giclee (pronounced "zhee-clay") which is the process of making high resolution fine art prints from a digital source using ink-jet printing. The word "giclee" is derived from the French language word "le gicleur" meaning "nozzle", or more specifically "gicler" meaning "to squirt, spurt, or spray."

At Canvas Press we know just how important your memories are. That's why we use the highest quality canvas, stretcher bars, and printers in the industry. We take pride in building you a treasured canvas that you'll be able to admire for many years to come.

On this page you'll find everything you need to know about our canvas product. If you still have some questions after reviewing the details, just give us a call or send an email and we'd be more than happy to assist you in designing the perfect canvas for your home or office.

Canvas Styles

Selecting the right canvas style is important when creating that perfect canvas. Canvas Press offers three different stretched canvas depths as well as non-stretched rolled prints, giving you more options than any other canvas print dealer.

Canvas only: You can always get a canvas print from us without stretching. If you'd like to stretch it yourself or use it in some other non-traditional method this is your option. We'll make the print the exact size ordered and leave an extra 2" of blank canvas on all sides for you to work with and deliver it rolled.

.75" depth: This size is perfect for any wall as is, or can fit into most traditional style frames if that is what you desire. Only available up to 48" for support.

1.5" depth: This size is our most popular depth. It the perfect proportion for most any size canvas you wish, adding a beautiful presentation to any image.

2" depth: Some images just demand a little extra substance to make them truly elegant. The 2" depth can make an image stand out boldly for a brilliant presentation.

Border Styles

Borders on wall collages are setup just like single canvases. We've created a variety of simple border styles that will ensure you get the most of your gallery wrap canvas. Since each image works best in different ways when split into various panels we often overlap the inside edges or remove sections of image to ensure when hung separately it will line up. Choose the border style you'd prefer and if needed we'll send other options with the proof of your final layout.

Image Border: We print the image larger than the finished size and use it to wrap around the sides. This works well for images with a lot of excess room around the subject.

Mirror Border: When important aspects of your image extend close to the edges this option allows us to copy and flip the ends of your image to create a mirrored duplicate on the sides. This creates the illusion of an image wrap without losing important detail on the face of the canvas.

Color Border:Also great for close-up images, especially portraits where a mirror border will cause the subject to look distorted on the sides. You can select any color you desire and this can serve as a nice accent to your photo.

B&W or Sepia

Allow us to create the look you want for your finished image with the possibility to convert your image to another color mode. These adjustments are done by our experienced specialists who take care to adjust for overall exposure and contrast, making sure you get a rich depth to your new image and not a flat, murky overlay from an automated system.

Photo As Is: If you are happy with the image as a color photo or have already done your own image conversion or enhancement then select this option to maintain what you have setup.

Black & White: Create a timeless look or avoid undesirable distracting colors with a classic black & white tone to your image. This will work well in any environment, from traditional to modern.

Sepia: A soft brown tone to your image for an antique look, or to warm up the feel of an image from the standard black & white.

Retouching

Sometimes an image just doesn't always translate like you envisioned it or as you saw in real life. Our retouching services will help bring back what is lacking and ensure everything looks just right. We can also give new life to older and damaged images, restoring their original beauty. At two levels, you can pick the option right for your image.

Minor Retouching: For minor touchups including, but not limited to, facial smoothing and blemish removal, color cast adjustment, red-eye and date-stamp removal.

Major Retouching: When your image needs more help, such as background replacement, large object removal and antique image restoration this is your option.

Please use the comments section of the order process to list your specific retouching requests. More detailed and advanced requests may require additional time and expense and if required will be discussed before production.

Oilworks

A unique service offered exclusively through Canvas Press is our OilWorks painting enhancement. Our artists digitally hand-paint the image to give the finished canvas the look of a real oil painting. Different levels of service allow you to get a truly unique and one-of-a-kind art piece without the expense of commissioning a costly original painting.

True Artist: The look of brush strokes are added to the entire image and minor adjustments are made to enhance the painted appearance while remaining true to your original image.
