Canvas Press surpasses all the rest! They designed my first picture a few years ago and added master oil works to create a most stunning realistic work of art. I have asked them to create more since then, and am always very pleased with the results. Their image consultants are the best. Their work is guaranteed. My friends always are certain that the artwork is a painting. Overall, I would rather have a piece of art produced by Canvas Press than any an artist would create.

Creating a canvas photo was once the domain of artists and photo professionals. The quality of image reproduction was necessary for those whose livelihood depended on selling art quality prints. Technology has advanced to such a point that it is within the reach of everyone to create a canvas photo.

Here are nine simple steps to help you create a canvas photo.

1. Select a special photo from your collection.

Selecting a special photo can sometimes be the most difficult part of the entire process. Most of us have hundreds or even thousands of photos stored away in hopes of one day having the time to organize them. The photo should be in digital format but it is not absolutely necessary. If your collection is made up of many years worth paper photos we will be happy to scan the photo for you.

2. Select one of our two create a canvas photo tools.

The tools are designed to give you a choice. Image Crafter is the simplest and should be used when the photo needs no adjustments or you would prefer that we make any need changes. Image Artiste is designed to give you artistic control and allows for many more options during the design of your canvas photo. For simplicity we will follow the Image Crafter to its conclusion.

3. Select an orientation for your canvas photo.

You have two choices landscape, which is best for wide shots of the mountain sunset from your last vacation, or portrait, which is best for that photo of your oldest child receiving his or her college diploma.

4. Pick a size for your canvas photo.

Image Crafter gives you nine standard sizes to choose from. If you need a non-standard size you should use Image Artiste. The standard sizes offered in Image Crafter are 8 X 10 inches up to 30 X 40 inches.

5. Choose the color and type of canvas you wish to create.

You have four choices for type of canvas. The most popular is the Gallery wrap with the image extending around the edge of the frame. You may of course opt for a border around the edge of the frame and you will need to select the color of the border.

The standard stretched canvas is designed with ease of framing in mind. It is not as thick as a gallery wrap so as to facilitate the addition of a decorative frame. A non-stretched canvas is also available for those wishing to do the stretching themselves.

Three choices are available for the overall color of your canvas. You may choose to create your canvas photo in full color, or convert it into Black & White or even Sepia.

6. Select needed enhancements.

At this point any changes needed before we create a canvas photo must be decided on. Red eye removal and color correction are two popular choices. Older photos may require some minor retouching if deterioration has occurred.

Oilworks is a system of enhancements for canvas photos in which an artist applies a human touch to the image giving it the appearance of a painting. Two levels are available and can turn your photo into a work of art.

7. Upload the photo you selected in step one.

The online tool is easy to use; all you do is browse to the location where the image is stored on your computer and click. It is just like adding attachments to an e-mail.

8. Add any comments or special instructions you feel are needed.

The cost to create a canvas photo from your selections is displayed in the lower right corner of the screen.
