Instagram Nation Infographic

Since Instagram was just purchased for 1 billion dollars it would be nice to now the how it came so uber popular and...well...worth that much money to Facebook. Here is a fantastic infographic to illustrate how this phenomenon caught on and how it is being used. I think some of the best statistics on this infographic are that 58 photos per second are uploaded to Instagram, people "Like" photos more than they comment, and one of the most impressive ones is that Instagram grew by 17 million users in under a month with the Android release.

This specific infographic was created by Online Colleges (an online college database) with the focus on college students who are using Instagram and what applications professors can take to use Instagram as a teaching tool. Take a look for yourself and see where you fall into with these stats.

Photo project idea: Try photographing an event (birthday party, basketball game, wedding you are attending, etc) with only a camera app like Instagram, Snapseed, or Hipstamatic. This can be a great creative challenge. If you don't want to post bomb everyone on Instagram, set your camera to airplane mode so your photos will still process but won't post to your Instagram feed.
