I found some great ideas on Houzz.com (fantastic place to get decorating inspiration) on how to spice up your entryways with wallpaper. Flat light is characterized as light that is coming directly from the camera's point of view. On camera flash is a great example of flat light. It is fine to illuminate a photo, but rarely adds visual interest to a photo. Try diffusing or bouncing your flash if you can. It will create a more natural looking light effect.
