You have decided to take a picture of your new family for Father’s Day this year. After deciding on using Canvas Press as your photo to canvas print company, you now are left with the task of scheduling the photo shoot. As a new dad, this can be a trying experience. Below is a checklist to help you with your pre-photo legwork.
Getting started:
- Camera â€" you will need a digital camera so that you can upload your image to www.canvaspress.com. If you don’t own one, try checking with friends or family members before going out and purchasing one to cut down on costs. You will also need someone to take the picture since you will be in it, so see if that person already has a camera. If they will be using yours, allot extra time in your schedule for showing them how to use the camera. It might seem easy to you, but they have the responsibility of taking a good photo, so they will thank you for giving them more than just a crash course.
- Location â€" indoor affords the most flexibility on time because you do not have to worry about sunlight and whether you too much or not enough. Outdoor locations have a wonderful look to them and can be very dynamic. Make sure to give yourself time to rake the area or move limbs depending on how primitive the location is. If you are using a building as a backdrop, check the lighting at several different times during the course of a day. This will help you determine what time you need to take the picture to get the best lighting effect.
- Scheduling â€" Give yourself plenty of time to get the shot. Call the person taking the picture and schedule a date in advance as well as a back-up date. This way no one will feel rushed and, if something does happen, there is a date to fall back on. Also set the time and the length of time you intend to be at the location. When expectations are set appropriately, no one gets anxious or feels rushed. Remember, everyone likes finishing early, no one likes staying late.
- Staging the image â€" When you set up your image, have someone else help you to make sure everyone is facing the right way and that everyone is clearly visible. This is most important for baby. Take a brightly colored toy with you to help the photographer get the baby’s attention during the shot. You don’t want to remember the back of baby’s head forever, you want to see their face.
