Cats are a lot like people - they come in many shapes, sizes and personalities. Cat lovers are as diverse as they felines they own, each one just a little bit crazy in the way they love their pet. Think about all the cat stuff you can buy for the four footed creature - the beds, the bowls, the collars and clothes and jewelry. There are carpeted castles and condominiums for your house or apartment that the cat can play and sleep on. [read more]
My aunt Clara, for example, has an entire room in her house devoted to her cat. By that I mean that the cat has his own bedroom as well as all the other things around the house designed to make the cat’s life easier. The ladder so he can reach the top of the refrigerator without jumping on the counter, the chair by my aunts that is specifically designated for the cat complete with blanket and pillow.
She’s a little bit nutty, but she’s my favorite aunt, Mr. Whiskers and all. Her cat’s birthday was coming up, and yes, it was an event she requested all of the family attend, so I found myself once again looking for a present to give Mr. Whiskers. But what do you get for the cat lover who already has everything? She didn’t particularly like cat things per say, she liked things made to make the cat’s life easier. Unfortunately she had pretty much tapped that market dry.
I was up searching the internet late one night and found a website called Canvas Press. After only a few minutes of wandering through their website, I was certain I had found the perfect gift. I called my mom and my sister the next day to tell them about my idea of getting a photo of Mr. Whiskers and turning it into a canvas print. They were just as excited as I was. It was the perfect gift for Aunt Clara.
The next week, we went over to Clara’s house and my sister convinced her to go to the store to get some odds and ends for dinner. While they were out, my mom and I worked on getting several shots of Mr. Whiskers around the house. For all the fluff and fur, he really is a patient cat and let us pose him for a dozen or more pictures before calling it quits and dashing into his room.
We went to my house that very night and uploaded our favorite shot onto www.canvaspress.com. We picked a large canvas since my Aunt didn’t have much hanging in her living room and completed the order. It was delivered to my door in plenty of time for Mr. Whisker’s fifth birthday party. Aunt Clara was so excited she actually cried. We helped her get it home and hang the print where it is now the centerpiece for her house.
She’s thinking of getting a companion for Mr. Whiskers, so if Mrs. Whisker’s does show up, we now know exactly what to get her for a housewarming gift. What cat could ask for more!
