Summer Fun in the Sun with your Kids

It is finally here, the beautiful days of summer with the warm balmy nights, fun filled weekends, cheerful children and of course friends and family getting together for 4th of July. When the temperature changes, it’s like a magical button that turns everyone from hibernation mode to an excitable play mode and it is always so much fun to watch the kids laughing and amusing themselves on the lawn with the sprinklers toys that swirl all about. It is almost too much to resist for an adult and before long, you can see mom and dad joining in on all the excitement. It’s moments like this that children remember the most so why not add more memories this 4th of July and the days leading up to it. Here are a few added suggestions for summer fun in the sun with your kids.

A Beach Day at Home

To start with, how about a beach day at home with some colorful sand art in a bottle? All you need is some sand, wax paper, newspaper, white glue or bottle cap, clear glass bottles, colored chalk, a stick and a cutting board. First you will want to lay down some newspaper in the area you will be working. Place the sand on the wax paper that sits upon your cutting board. Roll the desired chalk shade around on the sand to change its color. Pool all the sand into the center of the wax paper and bend it half so you can pour it into your bottle. With the stick you can move the sand into a desired shape before pouring in your next set of colored sand. Repeat until you reach the top of your container. Pour some white glue on top to seal it then place the bottle cap on tight and voila, your very own colorful beach art.

Fourth of July Barbecue Entrepreneur

This next one is great for the 4th of July barbecue entrepreneur. Kids will love cooking their own hot dogs on a tiny roaster they made themselves. First step is to find an empty oatmeal container and cut it across lengthwise. Cover the entire roaster in foil then poke a small hole in the top and bottom of the container. Next, you will want to find the perfect stick to pierce the hot dog with. Poke one side of your stick through the container and then carefully feed the stick through the hot dog from end-to-end. Now simply place your roasting stick through the other end of your oatmeal container and sit it in the sun. Make sure the kids rotate their hot dog occasionally to get it cooked perfectly on all sides.

Canvas Prints of all the Fourth of July Fun

Now don’t forget, while you and your children are doing all these fun activities, to take plenty of photos. That is half of the fun right there! Once you have your all your photos transferred onto your computer, you and your children can have hours of fun picking out your favorite ones to turn into canvas prints. It is so easy to do! If you go to CanvasPress.com you will find all sorts of cool canvas options to choose from. Why not try the OilWorks option where the artist can paint your photo to look like artwork or add text to your photo saying something like: “Bobby and Katie on 4th of July.” If you are ever unsure of what you should do, the Canvas Press staff is always there to give you suggestions and guild you every step of the way. Printing your summer fun with Canvas Press is a great way to add beautiful memories for the years to come.
