Scary Ideas for Halloween Parties

So you've decided to go all out for Halloween and throw the scariest, most memorable party ever! You have a few ideas but need more. We’ve all heard of the skinned grapes that are supposed to feel like eyeballs to that poor unsuspecting person that put their fingers into “The Bowl of Goo” while blindfolded, fake spider webs and black lights, but once you have done that, what other cool ideas will you come up with? Well, I have some great ones to raise the hair on even a hairless cat.
Building Your Own Tombstones
Styrofoam makes a great tombstone because you can buy it in thicknesses of 2" or more at your local crafts store and is easy to cut with a jig saw. It has a perfect texture to it so it looks like a grave stone before you have even started. Styrofoam can be tricky to write on and is kind of fragile for the heavy handed, but with patients and some black acrylic paint, it should not be too much of a problem.
Have fun with gray spray paint and lightly age the tombstone with soft sweeping motions. You can even paint some creepy cracks in the stone to make it look old and don’t forget the eerie epitaphs like: “Barry A. Live and Diane Rott” To mount them, simply hammer a few stakes in the grown and gently guild the stakes into the bottom of the Styrofoam.
Scary Photos on Canvas
This is really fun! Take or find some scary photos. Use your imagination. Go to a REAL grave site or find stock photos online of Frankenstein’s Monster or a creepy, long, eerie hallway like you might see in the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland.
Once you have these eerie photos get them printed and stretched onto canvas like they do at Canvas Press. You can make 16x20” sized tombstone canvases to hang low around your house. If you are truly daring and have a camera that takes really high resolution photos, you can print a huge wall mural and hang it in the living room. Also, if you want to make a larger then life-size monster, you can have it printed on a 2” boxed canvas and place it near the front door to greet your guests. Don’t forget that Canvas Press gift cards make great game prizes and party favors!
Low Lying Fog
Low lying fog effects for Halloween are a fabulous touch, like icing on a cake! Mister Kool Low-Lying Fog Machine is fairly inexpensive and is able to generate a "dry ice" style fog effect without the cost and “dry ice”. It is just the thing for your party or graveyard. All you’ll need is some regular ice cubes and fog juice. Can you picture your Frankenstein’s Monster canvas you got from Canvas Press standing in your living room with an eerie fog around him? How awesome would that be?
Creepy Sound Effects
Last but not least… Scary sound effects are a must have for your Halloween party. You can go online and download all sorts of movie and television soundtracks like Ghost Busters, Michael Jackson’s Thriller, music from the Twilight Zone and don’t forget the classic screams and chains in the attic.
Now let’s make a list of your scary ideas for your Halloween party. You have your creepy eyeballs, black light, fake spider webs, Styrofoam tombstones, spine-tingling photos printed on canvas from Canvas Press, low lying fog, sound effects and don’t forget your scary costume! I think you are now set for an amazing night of thrills and chills for the scariest night of the year…Halloween!
